Four Songs

1.
Where did she go? Not much like the girl who chose to sell her whole Black hair, brown eyes, circled round with mascara lines Frowns and sighs, faded in light Down side allies in the night time... Where did she go? Where did she...GO? Where did she go... When she don’t know? Where did he go? A down-time toucher of all that turns to gold Straight head, lips tight Pretend colors for a pretend life Boot black: come day or night Always on show, Never alright! Hands held only so high, ‘Cos that’s the latest in a long, thin line Man-child forgets the light And trades the truth for an old lie Where did he go? (Do you know?) Where did he… GO? Where did he go... When he don’t know? Sometimes it’s all lies, but I don’t know why We bring down heaven, right into our eyes It’s all lies, It’s all lies, that lie between the lines Why? Do you know why?
2.
Hey kids You know me I told you How to be What to say And where to go Where do you go when you don’t know? When you don’t know? He kids, you been sold out The Radionsells, you buy You been sold now We’ve been sold now The Radio never lies! Cold information It will tear your love in two...station to station! Le radio, le radio, le radio, le radio… NOW
3.
Make Up 04:03
Wash your hair in mother's milk Dye it clean in baby's blood Secret visits to a place in town No mother's creed to wear you down Quiet shy girl on her last thrill It was a clean kill To shake away and take away The cuss word whispers in your hair So have a care To leave a note to wake up (x,x) So much nothing going 'round in this small town We've seen the house-beaten wives with the factory night lives And the life lost between the car and the bar gate (you never know when it's too late) And still a sound on the side of the last door Left crack'd open enough for seekers to be fooled And all God "lovers" in Sunday School Say That she's a one, made in make up, in make up! "Speaking to me words of release, and so disease me with your Golden Ease…" Sometimes Never In a time, and time unknown Always Forever, We click our heels… But we never… Get home…

Someone’s going down in flames tonight Come silence, come empty, come dark I never let the wheels touch the white lines So why must it seem everything I touch falls apart Just take it all, I can afford to leave it I rode the swell, I lived through hell to be near… near you to be near… near you It’s been so long now, the pain has gone And the numbness has stretched from my head to my heart Your ghost never haunts in the night anymore But your voice no longer keeps me... ...Awake at night I will not let you move me I rode the swell, I lived through hell to be near you Just take it all, I can afford to lose it I’ll ride the swell, I’ll drink the hell To be near you To be near you To be near you To be...

about

This is a short collection of songs that we recorded under the name "Canary". These four songs originally appeared on the "Scissors and Blue" split EP series, courtesy of Jeff Cloud and Velvet Blue Music, in cooperation with our imprint, The Cut & Paste Collective. Also on this CD were three songs from the guys in Maple Union, who were then known as "Under The Red". Name changing seemed to be the thing to do at the time.

Hard copies of this CD are still available (and highly recommended) via VBM at <www.velvetbluemusic.com> .
